MORE than 50 cueists will be looking to pocket the trophy of this year's Brunei National Pool Tournament.
"We are very happy and overwhelmed by the response of the participants this year. More than 50 participants had registered in the four events" said tournament director Bakhtyar Hj Zaini.
This year's tournament will also include an Under-18, 9-ball pool division raising the competition categories to four.
The other categories are the 8-ball, 9-ball competition and the 10-ball events.
"We have closed the date of the registration for the three events last night, however, the registration for the Under-18, 9-ball pool division will be open until further notice, so far we had 7 players registered for the event," said Bakhtyar.
Thirteen cueists have confirmed their registration in the 8-ball event23 have signed up for the more popular 9-ball pool division.
Eleven cueists will compete in the 10-ball pool division which was only introduced this year.
In addition to the new category, organisers, Brunei Darussalam Cue Sports Association (BCSA) have said there are some changes in the tournament's dates.
The 9-ball competition is now set for March 25-31, while 10-ball will be played from March 11-16.
The 8-ball event will run from Feb 10-17.
All categories will be contested at the Billiards and Snooker Hall II, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
Interested parties can register for the competition at the venue from 7pm-10pm from Monday to Wednesday and from 2pm-5pm from Thursday to Saturday.
Entry forms can also be obtained at Master Alim Pool & Cafe (Kiulap), Merce Snooker & Pool Cafe (Kiulap), BRS Pool House (Gadong), The Rack Pool House (Kianggeh), Fulcan Pool & Cafe (Beribi), Chun Ball Snooker Pool & Cafe (Tutong) and Lion Star Snooker Pool & Cafe (Tutong).
