Dear Editor,

I READ with interest an article on CAS (Care Action Strays) in the Happenings Section dated Sunday, 20th November.

I totally agree with Ada Ang's methods of highlighting the problem of stray dogs and animals through education. A lot of people nowadays do not know how to take care of their pets and it seems that the perception of these pet owners is to throw them away on to the streets once they learn that their pets have health problems that need medical attention.

What is wrong with these people?

Don't you know that it is irresponsible enough that you do not take good care of them and now you leave them out on the streets to survive with no food and shelter?

Where is the humanity? Where is our humanity?

It's important that people know what the meaning of the word "responsible" is. By having such talks (and hopefully more activities) a lot of people would think twice before buying pets if they think they aren't really up for it.

The writer mentions animal cruelty. I would like to see the government come up with some laws to help protect stray animals from any form of cruelty. I am against killing what God created and prefer them neutered if it helps to control the population of dogs in Brunei.
