Sales Management Course for postal services staff ends
THE Sales Management Course for postal services staff, has received good response from the participants, the course facilitator, Shailendra Kumar Dwivedi said yesterday.
Sales management plays an important role in the Postal Service Department as the staffs are in jobs that are related to communication, maintaining customer relationship and keeping business.
"The course itself was not a lecture as that would be boring. Instead, it was practical and there was lots of role playing involved which added to the fun," he said.
When asked about conducting the workshop in the future, the lecturer explained that the courses does not have a specific time of taking place. "It is not annually but rather on a needs basis. It also depends on what the government would want to arrange with us," Dwivedi said adding that there are other opportunities available such as a one-month training overseas.
One of the participants, an officer in premium postal services, commented that the course was relevant because it helped everyone learn more about increasing customer base and revenue.
"Our sales come from the counter services most of which include stamps, Express Mail Service (EMS), poslaju and remittance services. So if we have more of our customers using these services it would help bring in more revenue" said Hjh Normah Pengarah Hj Buntar. "There are also postmasters who are in this workshop that lead the branches. If they are groomed and taught on how to deal with customers then they can also train the junior staff whom are actually facing customers daily."
The message for us to be more efficient has also been conveyed by our senior managers so we will continue to strive and try to keep the relationship with our clientele, she added.
In a previous interview, Dwivedi disclosed the need for postal service providers to create a new work culture citing behavioural changes within the organisation with government aid to capitalise on the effort. He also pointed out that the most important part of the workshop is to be customer-oriented with a problem solving mindset by using creative solutions instead of using past experiences to formulate reasons why things cannot be done.
During its closing at the Postal Service Department yesterday, 18 staffs comprised of senior officers and frontline staff received certificates for attending the course.
On hand to present the certificates was Acting Postmaster General Hj Bujang Hj Tinkong. Also present at the event was Hjh Siti Fadillah Hj Mohin, Acting Deputy Postmaster General. The Brunei Times
