THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) of the Police Royal Guard organised a thanksgiving ceremony for 54 promoted officers.

The event was held at the Police Royal Guard's Multipurpose Hall in Kg Beribi. Present as guest of honour was the Police Commanding Officer of The Royal Guard Mohammad Metussin.

With the six core values of the police force; impartiality, ethics, integrity, responsibility, respect for human rights and upholding the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB), the Commanding Officer in his speech stated that for police officers to be promoted, they must pass their police examinations first, regardless of their experience in the field.

Speaking to The Brunei Times, Sergeant Major Hj Ismail Hj Tua stated that the promotions were also awarded according to their time served, dedication, and contribution in their line of duty.

"Some of us have actually been in service with the police force for more than 15 to 20 years," said the Sergeant Major.

He added that with the new promotions, officers must uphold discipline and responsibilities to society, especially in ensuring the peace and security of the nation.

Out of the 54 officers promoted, four were promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major, 11 to Staff Sergeant, four to Sergeant, 11 to Corporal and 24 to Lance Corporal.

Leading the delegation in the Surah Al-Fatihah and the thanksgiving prayer was Hj Mohd Dahrin Daud from the Islamic Studies Department. The ceremony ended with a group photo session and refreshments of food and drinks.
