Monday, February 6, 2012

SABAH Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman advised media practitioners to refrain from airing reports with racial and seditious overtones. !He said such reports could have a negative impact on the unity and harmony enjoyed by Sabah's various ethnic groups. !"I am happy that people from diverse communities are united under the Barisan Nasional government.

"To preserve this, media practitioners need to play the role of a communication channel between the government and people," he said during the Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA)'s Chinese New Year gathering, here today. !In his speech, which was read out by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai, Musa also urged the Sabah media to remain united under the KKJA and Sabah Journalists Association. !He said staying united would be a stepping stone to form strong networks to facilitate the government's effort to champion the rights of the people, in line with its policies and plans for them. !He expressed hope that the media fraternity here would continue to show its deep understanding towards efforts carried out in the state. !"This will contribute to accurate reporting which can educate the Sabah public," he said. !Musa also announced that the Sabah government would donate RM10,000 to KKJA to partly sponsor this festive event.
