Taib not intervening in SUPP and SPDP leadership issues

Sunday, February 5, 2012

CHIEF Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud (pictured) said he will not intervene in the leadership issues involving two state Barisan Nasional component parties — Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP).

Taib, who is the state BN chairman, said he had given his views and advice to the leaderships of both parties but the problems remained.

"I won't be intervening anymore because I have been giving advice and views on this," Taib told reporters yesterday.

The SUPP plunged into a leadership crisis following its general assembly last month when several senior leaders boycotted the election process which saw Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui being elected as president.

The SPDP, on the other hand, has terminated the membership of five senior members who were at odds with the party's leadership.Bernama
