Trade atmosphere not very conducive

Monday, February 6, 2012

Dear Editor,

I REALISE that there's a lot of red tape prevailing in business and to excel one has to resort to connections. It's already 2012 and everything is stagnant in the country.

The only thing that most Bruneians are able to do is to open up small businesses. And this means they can't aim high. Even the government offer on tender quotations is not satisfactory.

I know that when it comes to business, people must expand their own networking, but how would a person be able to enhance his network when he gets blocked at the very start.

It's very sad that things like these are happening.

Some businesses may have ideas that could prove beneficial to the country, but because of the obstacles they just go waste.

Maybe the government departments dealing with businesses should take the initiative to put things in perspective.

Also the government departments should start some kind of management scheme wherein companies aiming for betterment would get a chance to promote their products or services.
