Dear Editor,

IN REFERENCE to the reports The Brunei Times published regarding the boat that crashed on Wednesday into the fish cages earlier this week, I would like to express my shock to find out that it was a police boat that was involved. I have been to the fish cages in the area before and usually there is a floating sign which warns boats to stay away from the fish cages. There is quite a fair bit of open water between the cages and the nearest building onshore. The boat would have had to been travelling quite close to the cages for it to make it to the cages and crash into it. I believe the marine police would have been known better to keep their distance, having conducted regular patrols in the area. Thus, it raises some suspicions as to why the boats were travelling so close. It would be an embarrassment to find out that the accident was caused by recklessness. Its enough of a blunder as it is just the fact being a marine police boat that was the culprit.
